The showlaser-systems.com website has been online for some years and for much of this time has attracted a fair amount of traffic from Google and other crawler-based search engines for search terms that it has matched naturally, 'laser show', 'laser hire', 'entertainment lasers', and so on.
This isn't particularly surprising as the company's products and services all relate to laser shows and the hire and sale of laser systems used at big events.
Sometime in 2007 the site started to drop out of the rankings. Ironically it looked as though some SEO 'enhancements' might have had a detrimental effect. Google uses over 200 different criteria for deciding how a web-page might match any given search, and it's difficult to know exactly what the cause was. It could have been a problem with the content itself, the structure, even the IP address as the hosting company had moved the server that the site was on to Scandinavia.
One option was to tinker with the site where it was but moving the site to an MJB Data server took several potential issues out of the picture. Apart from the geographical location of the host IP address the move also ensured that there were no other websites on the same IP address that might cause Google and others to be wary of it.
MJB Data was formed by an SEO specialist and the websites we produce are built to perform, so rather than move the old site a tweak it we decided to create a new system.
The new version of the site went live in January 08 and is now, (Feb 08), ranking rather well. Traffic is gradually creeping up, enquiries are up and the next challenge is to try to migrate the rankings that some of the older pages have regained over to new pages. In short, it a very good start.
